Masters de Feu 2027: a new award dedicated to environmental innovation

For the 2027 edition, Masters de Feu are introducing an Environmental Innovation Award. This new distinction will recognise concrete initiatives that help reduce the footprint of pyrotechnic displays, while preserving their artistic quality and capacity to inspire wonder.

Creating a monumental fireworks show while evolving industry practices: this is one of the challenges firework professionals face today.

For their special France edition, held on 25 September 2027 at the Hippodrome de Compiègne, Masters de Feu are adding to their list of awards with the creation of aEnvironmental Innovation Award.

This new distinction will spotlight the concrete solutions devised by the teams to limit the impact of their creations, from design to site clean-up after the show.

Rewarding concrete progress

This award is not intended to recognise a mere statement of intent. It will reward a genuine approach, integrated into the preparation and staging of the show.

The innovations presented may notably concern:

  • the design or use of products that reduce fallout and residue;
  • the development of reusable or more easily recyclable firing racks;
  • the reduction and sorting of waste generated during setup and firing;
  • the sharing of equipment, mortars and structures;
  • the optimisation of transport and logistics;
  • the protection of the ground and restoration of the site;
  • more broadly, any technical or organisational innovation that reduces the show’s environmental footprint.

The specific assessment criteria will be communicated to participating teams so that each can present the initiatives implemented as part of its creation.

Evolving practices without compromising the spectacle

For several editions now, Masters de Feu has worked with fireworks professionals to improve their production and installation methods.

The use of reusable devices, the sharing of part of the firing equipment, the search for products that generate less debris, and careful attention to site clean-up are now an integral part of event preparation.

The creation of this new award is an additional step. It will recognise the companies investing in research, testing new solutions and helping to drive the profession forward.

Innovation in the service of emotion

The three French houses competing in 2027 will have the same theme, the same budget, the same duration and the same artistic constraints.

The Environmental Innovation Award will be independent of the artistic ranking. It will thus make it possible to recognise a team for the relevance of its approach, even if it does not win the Silver Master.

Because reducing the impact of a show does not mean reducing its ambition. Environmental research can also become a driver of creativity, inspire new pyrotechnic writing and bring forth solutions that will ultimately benefit the entire profession.

With this new distinction, Masters de Feu aims to reaffirm that technical innovation, artistic excellence, and environmental responsibility can move forward in the same direction.
